My chubby inner fanboy lets out a silent scream as I enter Voodoo Doughnuts. Somewhere c.2007 Anthony Bourdain went to Voodoo at a time in which Doughnuts were hardly “de rigueur.” What is now a hipster delicacy was at the time just another fattening cheat meal in the middle of the Atkins craze.
Located at The Ace Hotel in Midtown, the hip crowd that hangs out here demand a kind of Bourdain-esque menu. Words like confit, leg, shank, and stuffed adorn the menu. They have some great beer and wine on the menu and the bartenders are adept at all things cocktail.
If it weren't for Napoli you could argue that New York is the home of pizza, or at least "Pizza by the Slice."
It was in late 2006 that I originally saw news from New York that heralded the opening of a restaurant with a 50's era concept of the automat called Bamn!. By 2009 Bamn!, however, was no longer.
The Ace Hotel chain in some circles is regarded as a hipster hotel. I can assure you that at least in Los Angeles it goes so much beyond that.
The situation of the SP34 is such that you are close to some great eating and drinking in the neighbourhood, and also to commercial shopping in Stroget. Torvehallerne is nearby and Norrebro is a short cycle away. The hotel has their own bikes for rent at a nominal daily charge.
